(Age) The planned return of Islamic State terrorist Neil Prakash to face charges in Australia has been hailed as an “impressive accomplishment” by Australian authorities after years of diplomatic wrangling.
Prakash, who has been described as the “most important and the most dangerous” Australian member of Islamic State, could face jail for life.
The Melbourne-born terrorist, believed to be aged 31, was arrested in Turkey in 2016 after being caught fighting for Islamic State in Syria.
He was subsequently convicted of membership of a terrorist organisation and sentenced to 7 1/2 years in a Turkish jail.
He has since been moved to an immigration detention facility.
