(Age) Every time terrorism survivor Rod Patterson closes his eyes, the memory of the 2018 Bourke Street attack is still vivid.
Mr Patterson was stabbed to the head as he ran to help someone he thought was the victim of a car crash, but as he reached the scene, Islamic extremist Hassan Khalif Shire Ali, 30, lunged at him with a knife before attacking a security guard and killing cafe owner Sisto Malaspina, 74, in front of horrified shoppers.
“It has affected our lives forever,” Mr Patterson said.
On Monday, State Coroner John Cain found the fatal knife attack on November 9, 2018, was a premeditated act of terror and called for major changes to the sharing of information between crime and intelligence agencies.
