3 Lansing residents accused of providing ‘material support’ to ISIS

(Lansing State Journal) Three Lansing residents have been charged in federal court with conspiring to provide “material support” to the Islamic State group, government officials said.

Members of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested Muse Abdikadir Muse on Monday at Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids after he checked in for a flight that officials called “a series of destinations” on his way to Mogadishu, Somalia, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

Mohamud Abdikadir Muse and Mohamed Salat Haji were arrested at the airport a short time later.

Michael McDaniel, associate dean of the Lansing campus of Western Michigan University’s Cooley Law School and a national security expert, told people not to let the arrests prompt fear.
