(Local) A Swiss court has handed eight men suspended sentences of up to 18 months for their role in a 2016 attack in which two worshippers at a controversial mosque in Winterthur were beaten, locked up and threatened with death over suspicions they had tipped off journalists about a radical sermon preached by an imam.
The regional court in Winterthur on Tuesday handed down the sentences after the men were found guilty of false imprisonment and intimidation.
The men will also have to pay a financial penalty if they re-offend … while on probation. In addition, two of the men, an Afghan and a Macedonian, must now leave Switzerland and will not be allowed to return for seven years.
