(KPNX) A newly released, nearly 300-page report from the Arizona State University Police Department sheds light on law enforcement actions during the April 2024 pro-Palestinian demonstration that led to the arrest of 69 individuals and sparked outrage after officers forcibly removed hijabs from several Muslim women.

The arrests occurred on April 26, 2024, when ASU campus police declared an unlawful assembly and began detaining demonstrators who had set up an unauthorized encampment on university grounds. Among those arrested were four Muslim women who allege that officers violated their rights by removing their religious head coverings during the arrest process.

The women are now suing ASU and law enforcement agencies involved, claiming their constitutional rights were infringed.
