(Juno News) The Manitoba government is forcing a new “action plan” onto schools, claiming it will address “Islamophobia” within the kindergarten to Grade 12 education system.

Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Tracy Schmidt announced the Anti-Islamophobia Action Plan Friday. She said it is intended to help ensure schools are safe and inclusive for all students.

“Every child deserves to feel safe, supported and included in Manitoba’s schools, regardless of their faith, background, or identity,” Schmidt said in a media release.

An anti-Islamophobia working group, established in October 2024, developed the plan. According to the province, the group includes community leaders, educators and staff from Manitoba’s education department.
