(ITV) A man accused of hatching a terrorist attack to “kill as many Jewish people as possible” only pretended to go along with the plot so he could “sabotage it” and “take the evidence to the police,” a jury has heard.
Walid Saadaoui, 38, is alleged to have wanted to cause “untold harm” and kill as many people as he could in a gun atrocity aimed at the North West of England.
But, prosecutors say, police were able to prevent the plans of Saadaoui and co-defendant Amar [Hussein], 52, from becoming a tragic reality as they unknowingly laid bare their scheme to an undercover operative.
Giving evidence at Preston Crown Court, Tunisian national Saadaoui told the court he had never had any intention to carry out a terrorist attack or harm anyone.
