Two men charged with planning to join terror group

(BBC) Two men have been charged with the terror offence of arranging to leave the UK to join the Islamic State (IS) group.

Oliver William Rea, 24, from Arnold, Nottinghamshire, and Muhammad Bham, 19, from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, were arrested on 29 October as part of an intelligence-led operation, Counter Terrorism Policing North East (CTPNE) said.

The men have been charged with engaging in conduct in preparation of an act of terrorism under section five of the Terrorism Act 2006.

The UK nationals were remanded into custody, officers said, and are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
