(Juno News) Soldiers at a Canadian Armed Forces base in New Brunswick are now only being served Halal-certified chicken, according to a National Defence spokesperson.

After receiving a tip from an anonymous source in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), True North discovered that “100%” of the chicken offered at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown is halal.

“Canadian Forces Base Gagetown is the only confirmed base that offers 100% halal chicken in its mess hall at this time,” said Nick Drescher Brown, a spokesman for National Defence. “The CAF are committed to providing its members with a variety of nutritious food options, including those which accommodate dietary restrictions whenever possible.”
