Ayyash was arrested at Schiphol Airport on Friday, September [19], upon request from the Austrian authorities. The country suspects him of being a member of Hamas, considered a terrorist organization in the European Union. Ayyash is also alleged to have financed Hamas. He said he had fled to Austria after he lost relatives due to a bombardment carried out by Israeli forces.
