JewishColumbus condemns alleged ‘hate speech’ from local imam. Noor Islamic Center responds

(Columbus Dispatch) A central Ohio Jewish group is demanding an apology from the Noor Islamic Cultural Center after it said an imam called for the “extermination” of people who support Zionism during a September sermon.

JewishColumbus released a statement condemning “inflammatory rhetoric” from the Noor Islamic Cultural Center’s imam, Abdel Moneim Dobal, in what JewishColumbus said was a Sept. 5 sermon. The Noor Islamic Center, however, says that the JewishColumbus presentation of what the imam said is a “reckless misrepresentation” of what he actually said.

An excerpt of his sermon can be found on MEMRI, an Arabic-translation nonprofit that has been accused by some Muslim groups of selectively translating source material. MEMRI and a representative for JewishColumbus say the video was sourced from Noor’s YouTube page. As of Oct. 2, video of the sermon was not available on the center’s page.
