(Florida’s Voice) Jarvis Kareem El-Amin, vice chairman of the Tampa-based Muslim nonprofit Masjid An Nasr, was terminated by the organization after allegedly making controversial comments regarding Charlie Kirk’s death.
The Tampa Bay Young Republicans flagged the comments, prompting Hillsborough County Commissioner Joshua Wostal to propose an agenda item for the Sept. 17 meeting to “rescind all remaining, current, and future funding that has been allocated for Masjid An Nasr, Inc.”
The group has received funding in the past and is slated to receive around $50,000 in future grants. According to the nonprofit’s 2024 IRS Form 990 document, El-Amin was serving as vice chairman.
