Man convicted of terror offence ‘hid bank details’

(BBC) A man convicted of a terror offence hid secret bank accounts and contact details from police for more than two years, a court has heard.

Muhammed Saeed Ahmed, 33, from Bradford, pleaded guilty in 2013 to possessing terrorist material and was handed a suspended sentence of 22 months, the Old Bailey was told.

Under the Counter-Terrorism Act 2008, he had to notify police of any changes to his personal or financial details, prosecutor Lyndon Harris said.

But, between 2019 and 2021, Mr Ahmed is accused of breaching his notification requirements 19 times. Mr Ahmed denies all 19 counts.

He allegedly failed to tell authorities about a cryptocurrency account, a PayPal account, four different bank accounts, two mobile phone numbers, nine email addresses and that he was insured to drive a car and a motorbike.
