(Luxembourg Times) Three Islamist terrorists from Luxembourg who left the country to go and fight for the Islamic State group have been sentenced to 15 years in prison by a court in the capital on Thursday.
However, it remains highly unlikely that the trio — referred to in court as Benisen R. and two brothers, Anes O. and Denis O. — will serve their sentences as they are presumed to have been dead for several years, killed fighting for the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.
Accused presumed dead
While there has been no official confirmation of their deaths, the public prosecutor’s office nevertheless decided to put them on trial — taking its cue from similar cases in France and Belgium.
