Detroit man Jibreel Pratt pleads guilty in ISIS terror case

(Detroit News) A Detroit man on Tuesday admitted concealing cryptocurrency donations he planned to make to the Islamic State and faces up to 10 years in federal prison.

Jibreel Pratt, 26, pleaded guilty to two counts of concealing material support to a foreign terrorist organization 14 months after prosecutors accused him of unwittingly exchanging incriminating messages with an FBI informant.

In March and May 2023, Pratt transferred Bitcoin to the informant, who Pratt believed was an ISIS member. The cryptocurrency was intended to help pay for people to travel and join ISIS and finance an act of violence on behalf of the terror group.

Prosecutors say Pratt hid the transfers by using an encrypted app and a private network.
