(Stockton Record) Federal agents arrested a Central Valley man Tuesday on suspicion of attempting to provide aid to ISIS in the form of guns, equipment, and money, authorities said.
Ammaad Akhtar, 33, of Stockton, has been charged with attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The arrest stemmed from an undercover sting in which Akhtar communicated with a person he believed to be a member of the terror group, but was actually working with law enforcement, according to the agency.
Money, weapons and allegiance
The investigation began in February, when investigators allege Akhtar began conversing with the informant online.
