(European Conservative) Having already stressed the need to “remain extremely vigilant” about Islamist infiltration after reports pointed to Muslim Brotherhood control of (at least) five Brussels municipalities, Belgian politicians are now calling for an official investigation to establish the true scale of the problem.
The liberal Reformist Movement (MR) this week called on the federal government to produce a detailed report on the national influence of the Muslim Brotherhood in order to “protect our democratic values.”
A Europe-wide discussion on Islamist infiltration was started last month following the release of a French government report on the threat posed to “national cohesion” by the Muslim Brotherhood. The Swedish government later announced it was launching an investigation of its own.
