(GB News) Tribune magazine, the historic Labour publication where George Orwell once served as literary editor, has been acquired by Mohamed Ali Harrath, founder of the Islam Channel.
The takeover sees the 1937-founded magazine, which has traditionally been a key publication for the Labour movement, now under the ownership of the chairman of E Media Group.
It comes amid scrutiny of Harrath’s Islam Channel, which was fined £40,000 by Ofcom in 2023 for broadcasting content the regulator found to be “anti-Semitic” and “highly offensive.”
The channel is currently run by Harrath’s son, Mohamed Harrath, as chief executive, while the elder Harrath will serve as chairman of the newly acquired Tribune magazine.
