Police in Madrid arrest 2 women linked to jihadist terrorism

(Euro Weekly) The National Police reported Friday that it arrested two women aged 19 and 21 in the town of Alorcón, in the province of Madrid, charged with allegedly running a terrorist academy.

The official statement said the two women were placed at the disposal of the Central Court of Instruction, whose head has ordered one of them to prison and the second to precautionary release.

The eldest, who has been remanded in custody, founded a religious association under the guise of teaching Islam, but behind the complex structure lay the intention of instilling jihadist ideology in Muslim faithful. According to police sources, their terrorist propaganda was not limited to the virtual realm — through Telegram and WhatsApp channels or social media such as TikTok and Instagram — but they also visited mosques in the community of Madrid, subtly attempting to recruit future students to indoctrinate them through readings by the current spiritual leaders of the Islamic State.
