Legislature targets developments like Muslim-centric EPIC City A Collin County Republican says the bill aims to protect the property rights of investors.

(Dallas Morning News) A bill making its way through the Texas Legislature targets the business structure behind the planned Muslim-centric EPIC City development near Josephine.

The bill would require business entities to inform buyers that they are purchasing an interest in the business and not in any residential property itself.

Attempts to prevent an investor from transferring their share or institute requirements for an investor to maintain their share would be a violation of the Texas Fair Housing Act.

But the EPIC City developer says it’s not necessary, and a real estate attorney says the legislation is “incomplete.”

House Bill 4211 was passed by the Texas House of Representatives last week and awaits approval in the Senate.
