(GB News) A Labour MP has not ruled out the government allowing Shamima Begum to return to the UK to “face justice” but admitted he would prefer her to be prosecuted in Syria.
Speaking on GB News, Peter Swallows addressed the controversial case of Begum, who left Britain as a teenager to join Isis in 2015.
Swallows described prosecution in Syria as “the logical, practical solution” for Begum’s case, and claimed that her returning to Britain is “not the government’s view.”
A debate has been sparked over whether Begum should return to the UK following a new report, which found that over 400 Isis jihadis have returned to the UK and have avoided facing justice.
