Acting Supt. Craig Young of Emergency Management and Public Order says there will also be “an increased police presence in and around the demonstration area,” including on horseback.

The rally is held at the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan and has been used by anti-Israel activists to call for the destruction of Israel and express support for Palestinians. Many Jewish groups call it antisemitic, and two city councillors earlier this month wrote police urging that they enforce the law during the rally, which Brad Bradford described as “a hateful protest event that calls for the elimination of the State of Israel, and is often accompanied by protesters glorifying terrorists and waving Hamas flags.”
