Suspected budding jihadist arrested in Brescia area Man downloaded Islamistic propaganda, weapons-making material

(ANSA) Italian police on Thursday arrested an alleged budding Islamistic terrorist living in the Brescia area, sources said.

The suspect, a 46-year-old Italian man with Moroccan roots, allegedly downloaded jihadist propaganda and instructions for making homemade weapons.

Investigators seized material including handwritten sheets [with] messages praising martyrdom and holy war.

The investigation stemmed from monitoring of the internet by the postal police.

The suspected [jihadist] was allegedly in WhatsApp groups linked to the Islamic State.
