(Edmonton Journal) A pair of women repatriated to Edmonton after living in territory controlled by the so-called Islamic State have agreed to short-term terrorism peace bonds.
Dina Kalouti and Helena Carson were part of a group returned to Canada in 2023 from a refugee camp housing former residents of ISIS-controlled land in Iraq and Syria.
On Friday, the two entered into six-month peace bonds requiring them to continue counselling with the Edmonton-based Organization for the Prevention of Violence (OPV), which provides programming for people seeking to leave extremist groups.
The women signed statements admitting they left Canada and lived in ISIS territory, but did not admit to having been members of the terrorist organization.
