Police arrest alleged Hamas supporter who arrived in Britain on small boat

(ITV) Police have arrested an alleged Hamas supporter who appears to have arrived in the UK by small boat last week.

ITV News understands Abu Wadei was arrested by Immigration Enforcement on Sunday for entry without leave, and remains in police custody.

Wadei reportedly has links to a militant group, and has hundreds of thousands of followers on social media.

He is believed to be in his mid-30s and from the city of Khan Yunis in Gaza, and thought to have been one of 235 migrants picked up on four small boats in the Channel on Thursday morning.

On Friday, Wadei posted a video on his Facebook which shows him on a small dinghy, with the caption “by the grace of Allah Almighty I reached Britain, after a long and difficult journey at sea.”
