(NL Times) A 24-year-old man from Venray was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of terrorism-related offenses, including making threats involving a terrorist act and distributing incendiary materials.
The suspect came to the attention of Dutch authorities earlier [last] month after Belgian police raised concerns about several social media accounts. The Belgian authorities, alarmed by a TikTok video, suspected that the user behind the accounts might be planning a violent attack. The man had thousands of followers on the platform.
Dutch police identified the suspect as a Syrian asylum seeker who had been living in the Netherlands since 2018.
