German court jails three for collecting donations for Islamic State

(DPA) A German court on Tuesday handed prison terms to three defendants charged with supporting Islamic State, finding them guilty of collecting donations for the terrorist group between 2020 and 2021.

A 26-year-old woman holding German and Moroccan citizenship was given three years and three months in jail, while a 35-year-old German woman and her 35-year-old husband were sentenced to 2 years and nine months and three years and nine months, respectively.

The 26-year-old collected more than €52,000 ($53,800) while the couple collected over €120,000, with the money particularly intended for imprisoned female Islamic State members, the higher regional court in Dusseldorf found.
