Four arrested in North Macedonia, suspected of links to ISIS

(Koha Ditore) Four people suspected of links to the terrorist organization ISIS were arrested in North Macedonia on Friday.

Police have conducted searches at five locations in Skopje and Gostivar and suspicions are that the terrorist cell was ideologically linked to ISIS.

“The aim of the members of the terrorist cell was to commit a terrorist act against civilian targets or so-called soft targets, i.e. public facilities in the country, with the aim of creating a sense of insecurity or fear among citizens. To achieve his goal, the first defendant created several groups on the Telegram social network, in which he distributed previously obtained and translated ISIS propaganda materials, recruiting new members,” the Macedonian Interior Ministry said in a statement, Alsat reports.
