(DPA) The suspected perpetrator involved in the fatal incident at the Magdeburg Christmas market is expected to lose his medical licence, the regional administration for the state of Saxony-Anhalt announced on Friday.
The state administration said that proceedings to revoke the doctor’s authorization have been initiated, and that the licence would initially be suspended.
“The prerequisite for this is notification from the public prosecutor confirming that a preliminary investigation has been initiated,” it explained, adding that this notification has been formally requested.
According to the information provided, the suspension is described as a temporary measure aimed at preventing the doctor from practising medicine while the criminal investigation is ongoing, particularly in urgent or unclear cases.
