Cyprus security services looking into list of Syrians with suspected jihadist links after HTS rises to power

(Philenews) A top secret file of Syrians who arrived as migrants on the island years before the Assad demise and had suspected links with HTS, now ruling the country, has resurfaced following the group’s emergence as the key player in the new state of affairs after leading the lightning assault on Damascus a week ago.

“A Syrian man reported a threat on his life by a compatriot if he continued to support the Assad regime” is one of the accounts published by Fanis Makrides of Phileleftheros. The report was secured from a top secret security services file on hundreds of Syrians who sought asylum in Cyprus a few years ago and were suspected of links to HTS and other jihadist groups.
