Legault accuses federal immigration minister of confusing Muslims with radical Islam

(Montreal Gazette) Premier François Legault has responded to the federal immigration minister’s accusations that he is picking on Muslims by saying he will defend Quebec values.

And Legault in turn has accused Miller of confusing Muslims with radical Islam.

“I will defend our values at all cost,” Legault said, arriving for a meeting of the Quebec cabinet.

On Tuesday, Federal Immigration Minister Marc Miller responded to Legault’s message Friday to Islamists that he would like to find a way to ban public prayer — even if he had to resort to use of the notwithstanding clause to override fundamental rights.

“I don’t know what Legault is picking on,” Miller told reporters in Ottawa. “It seems to me that it’s always Muslims.”
