(DPA) A 17-year-old German detained in the northern state of Schleswig-Holstein is suspected of plotting an attack motivated by extremist Islamist beliefs, prosecutors confirmed on Tuesday.
Prosecutors in the northern city of Flensburg said the teenager had been detained at home in Elmshorn, north of Hamburg, on November 6 after police uncovered concrete plans for an attack.
The German-born youth, who is said to have become radicalized, has since been remanded in custody on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime. He is being investigated for preparing a serious act of violence to endanger the state, prosecutors said.
