(DPA) The German lower house of parliament, or Bundestag, has passed a motion to combat anti-Semitism in its first plenary session since the ruling centre-left coalition broke apart.
The motion entitled “Never Again Is Now: Protect, Preserve and Strengthen Jewish Life in Germany” passed with a broad majority on Thursday.
According to Bundestag President Bärbel Bas, the opposition conservative CDU/CSU bloc, Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s centre-left Social Democrats (SPD), the Greens, the pro-business Free Democrats (FDP) and the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) voted in favour of the motion.
The recently formed Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) reportedly voted against it, while the far-left Die Linke (The Left) group abstained.
