(Calgary Herald) The judge determining if terrorism charges against a Calgary man should be tossed because of unreasonable delay hasn’t heard all the arguments yet.
Justice Corina Dario heard lengthy submissions Tuesday for the second day as to whether Jamal Borhot’s right to a speedy trial has been violated, but by 5 p.m. determined further arguments would be required on Wednesday.
Borhot, 34, faces three charges of participating in the activities of a terrorist group. He is alleged to have gone to Syria to assist ISIS more than a decade ago.
According to court documents, Borhot is accused of travelling to Syria with his cousin, Hussein Borhot, in May 2013, after flying to Turkey from Calgary.
