(ABC-Australia) Muslim community organisations are unhappy after grants announced five months ago for Muslim and Jewish communities to improve social cohesion were given to SBS, news organisation AAP and the Human Rights Commission instead of Islamic and Arab groups.
The ABC has spoken to Labor insiders who say they have been fielding complaints from Islamic organisations who are incensed that five months into the war, only two smaller grants have been given to Islamic organisations — the Islamophobia Register of Australia has received a grant and the Australian National Imams Council too.
They are the only two organisations to receive any money.
