(BBC) A Sheffield primary school is investigating how non-halal meat came to be dished up to pupils.
Halal food adheres to Islamic law, as defined in the Quran.
The BBC has seen a letter from Pye Bank Church of England Primary School that said the diced chicken had been withdrawn.
Head Rhea Kurcewicz said staff had met with parents, as well as local imams, to discuss the error. An investigation was under way, she added.
Mrs Kurcewicz said the school, where meat was believed to be halal, was “prioritising being as open as possible” about the error.
