French imam calls for expulsion of Islamists from France as country reels after knife attack

(TVP World) Hassen Chalghoumi, an imam from the Parisian suburb of Drancy, called on Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin on Saturday to expel all individuals connected to radical Islam who are not French citizens from the country. The appeal came after a young Russian man of Chechen origin killed a teacher and wounded two more people in Arras. Also on Saturday, a bomb threat caused the famous Louvre Museum to close its doors. The tensions run especially high due to the Hamas-Israeli war since France has a large Muslim population and is also home to Europe’s largest Jewish minority.

France is currently reeling from a knife attack conducted by Mohamed Mogouchkov, a 20-year-old Chechen man whose family came to France from Russia in the late 2000s, which resulted in the death of Dominique Bernard, a French-language teacher in a school in Arras in the north of the country.
