Brussels bombing trial: Suspect laments being given pencil to take notes

(Brussels Times) Defendant Mohamed Abrini issued a complaint via his attorney Laura Pinilla, when the Brussels bombing trial resumed on Thursday afternoon.

Abrini was unable to take notes on the testimony given during the morning session, Pinilla reported, because, for security reasons, the police declined to give him a ball pen and issued him with a soft pencil instead.

“Mr. Abrini tried to take notes, so that he could ask the investigators questions in a few weeks’ time,” the attorney said, showing the president of the court the pencil, “but it is impossible with this!”
