Memorial for victims of San Bernardino terror attack opens Monday, here’s what it looks like San Bernardino County held a private ceremony at the site Friday, for the family of victims, survivors and first responders

(Corona Press-Enterprise) Shannon Johnson’s last words are now carved in stone.

Johnson, one of 14 people killed in the 2015 San Bernardino terror attack, died shielding others in the mass shooting.

The last words Johnson, a health inspector for San Bernardino County, spoke to his wounded coworker Denise Peraza — “I got you. Lord, have mercy.” — are engraved on an alcove bearing his name in the Curtain of Courage, the county’s memorial to the victims of the 2015 attack.

The memorial officially opens to the public Monday, June 20, after a six-and-a-half-year wait. But on Friday, June 17, victims’ families, survivors, first responders and other VIPs gathered for the memorial’s formal unveiling.
