(National Post) A Conservative senator grilled the governing Liberals Tuesday about why a man the Israelis say is a “high-ranking member” of a designated terrorist organization has been allowed to live in Vancouver.

Last week, the National Post’s Terry Glavin wrote about Khaled Barakat — a man described by Israeli intelligence services as an “active and senior member” of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), radical-left, Marxist-Leninist militants and the second-largest constituent arm of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

The PFLP are believed responsible for the deadly Nov. 18, 2014, Jerusalem synagogue attack that killed six worshippers including Toronto-born Rabbi Howie Rothman, who was in the midst of prayer when attacked from behind by a meat cleaver. He died after a year in a coma.
