The woman, who was identified in the prosecution statement only as Monika K., traveled to Syria in 2013 with her husband to join the organization, according to the prosecution. After his death, she married two other fighters with whom she lived in various locations in Syria and Iraq.
After being detained by the Kurdish authorities in northern Syria in early 2019, the accused organized a network from the Al Hol detention camp to collect donations for female IS members through various messaging services.
