(Euractiv) An extensive campaign against Sweden is currently underway on social media, P4 Örebro and TT reported. Accounts linked to Islamists are posting false claims that Swedish authorities have kidnapped children.
“In the past week, it has escalated sharply, and in comment sections, there are now calls for terrorist attacks or threats directed against authorities,” said Mikael Tofvesson, operations manager at the Swedish Psychological Defence Agency (MPF).
According to the MPF, the campaign can be traced to an Arabic-language site whose creator expressed support for the Islamic State. Since late December, it has published some 20 videos of what it claims are abuses by Swedish authorities.
