Truck driver who pulled shocking state Senate upset apologizes for anti-Muslim posts, deletes social media

(NJ.com) Edward Durr, the newly elected Republican state senator who shocked New Jersey by knocking off incumbent Senate President Stephen Sweeney, has apologized and deleted his social media accounts after past xenophobic and anti-Muslim messages surfaced.

A post from Durr’s Twitter account in September 2019 labeled Islam “a false religion” and its prophet, Muhammad, a “pedophile.”

A pair of tweets from Durr’s account in 2017 and 2018 also called U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., a “pedophile.”
