(AAP) A Sydney man who [was] stopped at the airport on the way to engage in extremist violence is set to be sentenced on Monday.
Nowroz Rayed Amin, 30, was on his way to Bangladesh, where he admits he planned to engage in extremist violence, when stopped at Sydney Airport in 2016.
He faces life in prison after pleading guilty to one count of planning or preparing for a terrorist act between May 2015 and February 2016.
Prosecutors say he intended to carry out an attack locally, pointing to messages with Islamic extremists in Bangladesh in which they claim Amin used code words to talk about making explosives in Australia.
