(Sydney Morning Herald) The parents of an alleged ISIS member are willing to cancel their internet connection and remove their son’s bedroom door to allow them to supervise him, the NSW Supreme Court has heard.
Joseph Saadieh, 24, was arrested in June after a seven-month investigation into his activity, amid what police allege was “escalating” online rhetoric — including a declaration of allegiance to Islamic State.
The Chester Hill man, living with his parents at the time, is also accused of possessing a large volume of violent ISIS propaganda, recipes for explosives, and knife attack methodology, across multiple devices.
Mr Saadieh’s lawyer Osman Samin told the court on Thursday his client’s family are “clearly opposed” to extremist views and are “willing to go above and beyond” to support him to meet the requirements should he be granted bail.
