(KPHO) Members of an Arizona family are facing felony charges over the honor violence they did on a woman and her family because of their disapproval of her romantic relationship, police said. Peoria police said the six suspects targeted a now-pregnant relative, along with her boyfriend and his family, during the past two years.
The victims filed more than 20 separate police reports with several different Arizona law enforcement agencies. Investigators said the suspects believed the boyfriend was holding the woman against her will and were upset he wasn’t Muslim.
One of the incidents happened on March 14, when the boyfriend’s mother said the woman’s brothers came to the house but the mother wouldn’t let them in. Minutes after they left, Zahraa Alfartousi, the sister of the woman, knocked on the door and then knocked over potted plants when she wasn’t allowed in, police said.
