(WBAL) More than a dozen Maryland Muslim organizations sent a letter to state leaders to recognize the Palestinian struggle and take action.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations is calling on the United States to hold Israel accountable for the violence against Palestinians, and it wants Maryland’s elected leaders to take a stance on the issue.
Among the actions sought, the group wants the U.S. to stop the supply of weapons to Israel and for the U.S. to press Israel to stop the evictions of Palestinians from Jerusalem neighborhoods. More than 200 Palestinians, including dozens of children, have died in the conflict.
During a news conference Monday afternoon, Zainab Chaudry, CAIR’s [Maryland] director, said these issues have global impact.
