(NCA NewsWire) A western Sydney IS supporter who was caught on tape reciting a pledge of allegiance to a terrorist leader will walk free from prison next month.

Radwan Dakkak was on Friday sentenced to 18 months in jail after being convicted of two counts of associating with a member of a terrorist organisation.

Having been locked up in Goulburn Supermax since he was arrested during dramatic counter-terrorism raids across Sydney in July last year, the 25-year-old will be eligible to be released on January 1.

When the Toongabbie man was arrested alongside friend Isaac El Matari, who is facing life in prison over serious terrorism charges, he was charged with being a member of a terror organisation.
