IS supporter arrested again in Sydney

(AAP) A man once described as being part of a “close-knit group” of Sydneysiders supporting the Islamic State’s activities is back in prison for allegedly breaching a control order.

Ahmad Saiyer Naizmand, 25, didn’t apply for bail in Burwood Local Court on Wednesday after being arrested in Auburn.

He’s accused of twice failing to comply with a condition of a control order by causing another person to use a mobile telephone device on his behalf, federal police say.

The two charges both carry a maximum of five years in jail.

The order was confirmed in May 2020, three months after the expiry of a four-year jail term Naizmand served for contravening an earlier control order.
