(NCA NewsWire) Man Monis’s lover has had her jail sentence for murdering the Lindt cafe siege gunman’s former wife slashed by nearly 10 years after the Court of Appeal found his thrall over her was broken by his death.
Amirah Droudis, 41, was in 2017 sentenced to 44 years in prison with a non-parole period of 33 years after she was found guilty of stabbing the woman 18 times, dousing her in petrol and setting her on fire at a Werrington unit in Sydney’s west in April 2013.
However, Justices Tom Bathurst, Clifton Hoeben, [and] Peter Hamill on appeal reduced her sentence to 35 years with a non-parole period of 26 years and three months.
